TJ raises money for Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

TJ staff worked together to host their own World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on 30 September in aid of Macmillan, raising over £175 for this fantastic cause!

In addition to the cake sale, staff also participated in a ‘dress down’ day whereby they each paid a donation to come into the office in non-uniform. The proceeds from both the cake sale and the dress down day went to Macmillan.

A number of employees were actively involved in the coffee morning, contributing by baking cakes and savoury goods, as well as donating shop-bought goods too. Many more staff did their bit by purchasing and eating those goods so it really was a team effort!

The event was held at TJ’s headquarters at Charity Farm, Fareham, where the tasty treats were laid out for sale in the office. All staff were made aware of the coffee morning and encouraged to pop in and grab a cake if they’d like to.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides services for people living with cancer at every stage of their cancer experience, including emotional, practical, physical and financial support. They also raise money, influence decision makers, support the cancer workforce, research cancer care and help employers support staff.

Each year, Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raises millions of pounds to support the great work they do. The 2021 event raised over £11m and it is hoped that this year’s event total will be even higher.

The event was organised by TJ employees Elaine Stenning – Purchase Ledger, Sarah Mace – Account Administrator and Barbara Goode – Assistant Financial Controller.

Elain said: “This year we had some lovely home-made savoury treats, as well as lemon drizzle cake, cupcakes and chocolate brownies.  The goods are a lovely treat for everyone and it’s nice to know that the money being donated is going to a great cause.”
