We hold fundraising events at our head office every year, everything from Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and Jeans for Genes Day, to Dress Down Fridays, which have raised hundreds of pounds for charities such as Friends of PICU, the charity that supports the regional Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Southampton University Hospital, and Street Vet, an animal welfare charity that provides support for homeless pet owners who cannot afford private veterinary treatment.
In 2020, we donated to a crowdfunding project set up to support creatives in the Portsmouth area who have experienced hard times since the onset of the pandemic.
The project was set up by Portsmouth Creates, a community interest company that supports artists and creatives in the Portsmouth area, giving everyone the opportunity to take part in Portsmouth’s dynamic cultural scene.
COVID has impacted the creative industries all over the world and Portsmouth is no exception. Many artists and creatives have been left without any work or any paid outlets for their creative talents.
Portsmouth Creates reacted to this by launching a new project to offer financial support to local artists as well as giving them the chance to showcase their talent. The project made it possible to provide £500 micro-commissions to 20 local artists who have been unable to access financial support via the Small Business Grant or Retail, Hospitality & Leisure Grant.
When we were contacted to ask if they would like to support this project, we were happy to do so. As a Portsmouth-based company ourselves, we wanted to pledge our support for the city’s artists as well as help enable their work to be enjoyed by others at this challenging time.
We’re pleased to be sponsoring Petersfield Rugby Football Club for the 2021/22 season. We’ve sponsored the club in previous years and are keen to continue that partnership in order to provide much-needed support to local sports clubs.
Our Butser Quarry is a prominent business local to Petersfield RFC and an ideal partner for sponsorship. The Club has an ongoing relationship with us, having used our services on a number of occasions in recent years.
PRFC supports the local community wherever it can – this summer they hosted the Rugby Against Cancer charity event, which raised £10,500. Over the past nine years the club has raised £94,000 for other charities – mostly local – using its facility funded by sponsors and members to give back to the community.
Every Christmas, we like to thank our staff by giving each employee a luxury food hamper to celebrate the festive season. We also like to give a little something back to the community wherever we can, so for the past few years, we’ve also donated a number of these hampers to homeless shelters in Portsmouth to provide a little bit of cheer.
The hampers, which contain luxury items such as coffee, mince pies, fudge, gourmet popcorn and chocolates were given to homeless shelters in the hope that some of those facing hardship will be able to enjoy a tasty Christmas treat.
